Chapter Philanthropy and Service
Our philanthropy is something Gamma Beta holds very close to our hearts. Zeta Tau Alpha works to combat breast cancer by hosting fundraisers to support breast cancer education and awareness. Our largest event to date has always been our previous annual “Big Man On Campus”, where contestants participated in opening dances, runway walks, talent contests, and a Q&A with our judges. The contestant who impressed the judges the most won the title of Big Man On Campus. Awards for other categories followed. Some other events have included carnivals, 5ks, chili cook-offs, and “pinking out” our campus.
Pink out week 2022
Every October, Gamma Beta, along with other ZTA chapters, celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month by decorating our beautiful campus with pink streamers around trees, ribbons adorning our George Washington statues, and facts about breast cancer and words of encouragement in pink chalk on our Cater walk. During peak hours around Hodson Hall Commons, we table with informative pamphlets and more ribbons and activities to encourage support and awareness about this disease among students, professors, and staff.
2023 carnival philanthropy table
This spring, our Philanthropy team organized our second annual carnival where carnival-goers were able to win raffle baskets, play carnival games, dunk some big names on campus, and learn about us and our philanthropy.
We are thrilled to support the larger Zeta Tau Alpha organization in efforts to make one in eight women developing breast cancer to none in eight, and to spread education and awareness about the topic to our community
